Namings

A Naming ceremony is a celebration of a new life and a welcoming of that new life into its family and the wider community. It is not a religious ceremony recognised by the Church, as are christenings and baptisms. An increasing popular view by parents in our modern culture is to let their child choose their own beliefs and values when they are of an age and maturity to do so.

Naming ceremonies are sometimes held shortly after the birth of the child. It is also very special to choose to hold the ceremony on the child's first birthday and include it as a part of celebrations. Adults will be chosen by the parents, who are prepared to promise a special supportive relationship with the child.

There are no age limits to namings. All the siblings of a family can be named at the same time, if they did not have such a ceremony when they were younger.

Why have a Naming Ceremony?

Welcome Baby

Welcome Baby to our new world
how brave of you to come.
We are here to welcome you
as your journeys just begun.

Here's our opportunity
to help each other grow.
To experience all the things,
alone..we would not know.

You have been successful,
from your very start.
Just welcoming you, has made us all
release love from our hearts.

So remember little Baby
as you grow into your dreams.
Everything in this world
is not always as it seems.

Welcome others into your world
and it is there, that you will find.
All the love you ever knew
was never left behind.
